Unlocking the Power of the Subconscious Mind

Your subconscious mind is like a huge memory bank. It permanently stores everything that ever happens to you and its capacity is virtually unlimited. What is stored in your subconscious mind influences how you think, feel and behaviour.  It is a realm where our deepest desires, fears, beliefs and memories reside, influencing us in ways beyond our conscious awareness. Healers, mystics and holistic practionners throughout the ages have cottoned on to the fact that harnessing the power of the subconscious mind can be a transformative journey, leading to profound self-discovery, healing and personal growth.

As a psychotherapist, I have witnessed the remarkable impact that understanding and working with the subconscious mind can have on individuals seeking to create change. In a therapy sessions, I aim to delve beneath the surface of conscious awareness, uncovering the hidden patterns, dynamics, beliefs and emotions that might have shaped one's thoughts and actions.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the subconscious mind is its ability to influence our perceptions and experiences without our conscious realization. Deep-seated beliefs formed in childhood, traumatic memories buried beneath layers of defence mechanisms, and recurring patterns of behaviour stemming from unresolved conflicts all find their home in the subconscious realm. These hidden elements of our psyche can manifest in the form of anxiety, depression, relationship issues or self-sabotaging behaviours.

By bringing these hidden aspects of the subconscious mind into conscious awareness, we create an opportunity for healing and growth. Through techniques such as hypnotherapy, guided imagery, dream analysis and mindfulness practices, we invite the subconscious mind to reveal its wisdom and guidance. I had the opportunity to be hypnotised by Geraldine from Tranquil Mindfulness. I was unsure what to expect and tried not to let the stereotypical images of being hypnotised put me off!  I take every chance I can to relax! After making myself comfy on the most gorgeous green velvet chaise lounge, having a big fleecy blanket over me I was ready for whatever may come. The session felt like a guided meditation, it started with a chakra balancing, then a deep relaxation where Geraldine guided me into a beautiful forest. Inviting me to go deeper within myself I got in touch of a part of myself that I never normally access – I have called this part my “Inner Guide” but it can sometimes be referred to as “intuition” or “inner wisdom”. Parts of the experience were deeply emotional, which led me to shake and tears started rolling down my cheeks. I knew I was releasing emotions that I had been holding onto. Afterwards I felt lighter in my body and was in a beautiful dreamlike state of wellbeing that lasted a good few hours.  

Geraldine was able to plant some positive affirmations and statements into my subconscious when I was deeply relaxed, almost like a programmer downloading a new programme onto a computer. By imprinting positive affirmations, visualizations and intentions into the subconscious, it can activate its creative potential to attract abundance, success and fulfilment. When aligned with our conscious intentions and goals, the subconscious mind becomes a powerful ally in manifesting our desires and aspirations.

In conclusion, the power of the subconscious mind is a profound and awe-inspiring phenomenon that holds the key to unlocking our true potential and transforming our lives. By delving beneath the surface of conscious awareness, we can uncover hidden truths, release old wounds and harness the creative energy of the subconscious to manifest our deepest desires. Through therapy, hynosis and self-exploration, we can embark on a journey of self discovery and empowerment, reclaiming our innate ability to shape our reality from the inside out.
